Will artificial intelligence take over the world? On July 29, 2022 by Ivica Berkov
There is no question that artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing rapidly and is poised to play a significant role in future society. While there is still much debate surrounding the potential dangers and benefits of AI, there is no doubt that it will play an increasingly important role in our lives and economy. Some see AI as a potential savior, providing opportunities for widespread economic growth and automation of many tasks. Others are concerned about the potential dangers of AI, including job loss and increased automation of human labor. Regardless of the fears or expectations, AI is here to stay. The question is, will Artificial Intelligence take over the world?
In order to answer this question, we need to take into consideration many different aspects.
Let’s start with WHY.
Why Artificial Intelligence is important?
Artificial intelligence has the potential to improve our quality of life in many ways. For example, it could help us to better understand and respond to complex situations. It could also help us to make better decisions. And it could help us to automate tasks or processes.
Artificial intelligence has the potential to profoundly change the way we live and work. Here are four reasons why artificial intelligence is so important:
1. AI can help us achieve our goals more efficiently and reduce human error.
Artificial intelligence can help us automate tasks and processes that we would otherwise have to do manually. This can save us time and money, allowing us to focus on more important tasks.
While AI can do great things, it can also cause us to lose jobs. For example, AI can help businesses automate tasks that workers can do more cheaply and quickly. In the long run, this may mean that more jobs are lost, but it may also mean that more jobs are created in the fields like business, engineering…
2. AI can help us learn and evolve more effectively.
Artificial intelligence can help us learn and remember information more effectively. This can help us quickly adapt to changes in our environment and make better decisions.
3. AI can do dangerous and repetitive tasks
AI can do dangerous and repetitive tasks, but it can also help us do things we never thought possible. For example, AI can help doctors diagnose diseases more quickly and accurately than human doctors. AI can also help us manage massive data sets more efficiently, which can help us find new ways to fight crime or improve our economy.
4. AI is available 24/7 and it works faster than humans
AI has the ability to learn, process and react faster than humans. This has led to the development of AI-powered applications that can help us in our day-to-day lives.
Who invented Artificial intelligence?
In the 1950s the American mathematician John McCarthy, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, coined the term ” Artificial Intelligence ” to refer to the study and construction of intelligent machines. At that time the field of ” Machine Intelligence ” was in its infancy and was largely the domain of a few visionaries and eccentric academics and the focus of AI was on solving puzzles in a logical environment. However, in the past few decades ” AI ” has become a discipline of its own.
Where AI is used?
AI has been used in a range of fields, from retail to finance. Artificial intelligence has recently been used to enhance different products and services. It is now used in different industries to make products and services better and more efficient.
Industries that massively use artificial intelligence include banking, insurance and healthcare as well as entertainment (video games, movies…).
Are Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning the same thing?
The two terms “Artificial Intelligence” (AI) and “Machine Learning” (ML) are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. “AI” is an umbrella term that includes a wide range of technologies that can help computers do things that would otherwise be difficult or impossible for them to do, like recognize objects and understand natural language. “Machine learning” is a subset of AI that is used to improve the performance of AI systems by allowing them to learn from data.
Artificial Intelligence is the attempt to create computer systems that can “think” like humans. There are two fundamental approaches to AI: “Machine learning” and “Programming”. Machine learning is, at its core, the use of algorithms to enable computers to “learn” without being explicitly programmed. It is the process of allowing a computer to “try things out”.
Will Artificial Intelligence surpass human intelligence?
There is no clear consensus on when or if artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence. Some experts believe that this will eventually happen, while others are more doubtful.
AI can do a lot of things that humans cannot do, such as making decisions quickly and accurately. However, AI cannot do everything that humans can do, such as creative thinking or empathy.
Because of this, for me, the right question is not “will AI surpass human intelligence?” but “which level of symbiosis between AI and humans can be reached and is it acceptable in order not to lose humanity?”.
Is AI actually intelligent?
Intelligence is often defined as the ability to adapt to changing conditions. However, it is not so easy to define or pin down. It is an elusive quality that is hard to test and even harder to build into a machine.
Or is it?
Even defining human intelligence is very complex and difficult. It is often considered a natural phenomenon that can never be fully understood or replicated by machines. However, there are some definitions of human intelligence that are more accurate than others.
One definition of human intelligence focuses on the ability to understand and solve problems. This type of intelligence is usually measured using cognitive tests, such as IQ tests or SATs (Scholastic Aptitude Test). These tests measure a person’s ability to think abstractly and solve complex problems.
Another definition of human intelligence focuses on the ability to learn new information quickly and apply it effectively in various situations.
How AI will change the future?
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to grow, there are many positive impacts that it will have on both our society and the economy.
AI will help to automate many tasks that are currently done by humans, making the workplace more efficient and reducing the need for human workers. This will help to increase the quality of life for many people and reduce the amount of stress that they experience but if AI fails to meet the needs of humans, then its future may be limited.
Movies like “Ex-Machina” and “Terminator” show us the “dark side“ but don’t forget, without light, there is no dark and vice versa.
When I asked AI “Will Artificial Intelligence take over the world?” the first answer was simply “No.”
On the second try, it says “There is no evidence to support this claim.”
At this moment I completely agree. Even if AI surpass the limits which humans cannot fully comprehend, still it will be a super-tool to enhance our human capabilities and improve our lifestyle.
AI will offer humans opportunities to do things that are otherwise impossible or too time-consuming.
For example, some people can now travel the world cheaply and easily thanks to online booking engines like Expedia and Orbitz. But if AI were able to create a realistic virtual tour of every destination in the world, there would be no need for human intermediaries – anyone could go anywhere they wanted at any time, without spending a fortune on airfare or hotels.
AI and humans are not enemies but very close friends. For now on this planet only, and I believe very soon on other planets as well.
